Panama Canal transit cruises are always very popular.  Come along with us as we cruise along the West Coast, through the locks of the Canal and then the Caribbean islands.  During our time at sea, we will be quilting up a storm and enjoying our time on a beautiful Celebrity ship.  This is one of those cruises you’ll never forget.

The Educators: Sherida Giddings and Johanne Moore are returning for this amazing cruise of a lifetime.

Sherida joined her first quilt guild over 20 years ago, and along with finding lifetime friends, it provides a constant source of quilting inspiration.  She now belongs to several guilds and loves attending meetings, and seeing all the amazing things that others have accomplished.  As a Certified Instructor for Judy Niemeyer/Quiltworx, Sherida has found a way to combine her love of teaching, with the sharing of the precision of Judy’s paper piecing techniques. It is a wonderful feeling to encourage others to develop more confidence in their own skills while creating something special, and having fun at the same time.

Johanne is an accomplished quilter and long armer, who has been involved in all aspects of sewing since she was a teen. She has worked at local quilt shops and taught a multitude of different quilting classes, including Quiltworx paper piecing, and is involved with teaching new quilters in 4H. She has taken classes from local and international quilt teachers, including Judy Niemeyer and various Quiltworx Certified Instructors. Her piecing and long arm work has been featured in several quilting magazines and a book.

She got her sea legs in 2018 while assisting Sherida on a Quilt Retreat at Sea Cruise to Hawaii and is looking forward to sharing her passion on her next cruise through the Panama Canal in 2021.

The Project:

IT’S A MYSTERY!  Sherida will design a project based on Judy Niemeyer’s paper piecing style.  You will build the quilt one piece at a time with Sherida and Johanne’s techniques that will make this easier than you can imagine.  If you are already a paper piecer, you will love this style.  If you’ve never paper pieced, you’ll be amazed at what you can do.  They may release teasers once in awhile so register and come join us for this awesome adventure.

About the Ship:

Celebrity Millennium is not one of those glitzy, brand-new mega-ships with rock climbing walls, trampolines and craft breweries. Yet, despite its age (the ship launched in 2000) and smaller size, Millennium still shines. The cruise line has maintained the ship well and it retains a timeless, yet modern beauty that can be seen everywhere onboard.

For anyone seeking to avoid the crush of humanity you’ll find on many mega-ships, Celebrity Millennium is just the right size, with a double occupancy of just more than 2,200 passengers. It’s small enough that the ship feels intimate, but large enough to support multiple restaurants, lounges and a true theater experience.

The ship has a touch of sophistication we loved, but it never comes across as stuffy or tedious, perhaps because the naturally inspired decor found throughout gives the ship a light, airy feel. Add to that friendly crew with ready smiles and a genuine interest in helping, and Celebrity Millennium provides a truly pleasant and relaxed cruise experience.
